Cara Beatty (Colorado for United Health Care) Cara Beatty was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She received a Bachelors of Science in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology from the University of Calgary, and her Medical Degree from the University of Alberta. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Calgary. Following a short time practicing in Canada, she was recruited to rural Minnesota where she a full spectrum family medicine practice which included office work, emergency room and hospital coverage, as well as delivering babies. After a few years of this practice, she became more involved in quality improvement work, and was responsible for the early implementation of population management data and strategy for her large multispecialty group. She also was one of the physician leads for implementation of an EHR across the entire organization, which included many clinics and several large hospitals. Following this she moved to Boulder Colorado to take on the role of Medical Director of a safety net clinic. Subsequently she accepted a role at Kaiser Permanente, where she had roles including operations chief of multiple clinics, as well as senior director of member experience. She is now the Market Medical Director of Colorado for United Health Care.
