Amanda Berra(The Advisory Board Company)
Amanda Berra is a practice manager with the Health Care Advisory Board, the Advisory Board’s flagship research program on hospital and health system strategy. Amanda’s principal areas of expertise include the economics of clinical quality, organizational transformation to support improvement initiatives, and building effective hospital-physician partnerships.
Most recently, Amanda led the Health Care Advisory Board’s research into raising episode performance as a key to thriving under bundled payment and other forms of risk. This initiative includes a new best practice research study, The Integrated Care Advantage, as well as the launch of an ongoing Bundled Payment Resource Center for hospital organizations working to raise quality and reduce cost across high-priority surgical and medical episodes.
Amanda has worked closely with chief medical officers on care transformation initiatives, the adoption of evidence-based practice, and efforts to reduce unwarranted variation in care. Amanda designed two Advisory Board improvement and learning collaboratives, the Crimson Continuum of Care Sepsis Collaborative (April 2015-present) and the Primary Care Medical Home Project (2009-2011). She has also led numerous research projects, including Setting the Standard for Patient Care, the Primer on Avoidable Costs, and Building a Best-in-Class Quality Infrastructure.
Amanda holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University and a bachelor of arts from Middlebury College.
