Dr. Bassin spends his time harmonizing and analyzing the big data sets that provide operational insights for Remedy. For the past 20 years Dr. Bassin has helped a wide range of health care organizations use claims data to measure clinical and financial performance, then develop and implement plans to address problems and opportunities highlighted in the analysis.
Prior to Remedy, Ed is best known for his work with episodes of care. In 1999, he founded ProfSoft, Inc. to focus on developing sophisticated analytic products for risk-bearing entities in healthcare delivery. In addition to consulting with numerous payer and vendor clients, he began designing and programming ProfSoft’s own analytic products. In December 2009, he sold ProfSoft to Thomson Reuters and became Vice President for Healthcare Analytics there. In addition to transitioning ProfSoft’s product suite to a new owner, he also led Thomson Reuters’ work on developing an episode of care grouper for the Medicare program.
Ed holds both Masters and Doctoral degrees in sociology, with concentrations in medical sociology and statistics, from Indiana University.
