Alternative Payment Models: Shaping the Future of Health Care Reform

Be part of the transformation at the 2016 Spring Health Care Payment Learning & Action Network (LAN) Summit.

We are expecting hundreds of public and private stakeholders to convene on April 25 and 26 at the 2016 Spring Health Care Payment Learning & Action Network (LAN) Summit in Tysons, VA.  Our goal: to speed the transformation of the health care payment system to one that encourages and rewards quality and value in person-centered care rather than volume in services.

Accelerating to Value

Held twice a year, the LAN Summit brings together health care payers, purchasers, providers, and consumer and patient advocates working together with state and national leaders to accelerate the adoption and alignment of alternative payment models (APMs) to improve health care quality and value.

Agenda

You will hear updates on the LAN’s white paper recommendations on the APM Framework, clinical episode payments, and population-based payments, as well as meet or reconnect with members of the LAN Guiding Committee and Work Group members. Inspiring plenaries will offer thought-provoking perspectives on the promise of alternative payment models.  Individual break-out sessions will discuss design and implementation of APMs in detail. There will be ample opportunity for attendees to ask questions, voice concerns, and learn from the experiences of others at all stages of transitioning to value-based person-centered care. Topics include:

  • Strategies for primary care
  • Patient attribution
  • Financial benchmarking
  • Episode bundles for joint replacement, maternity and cardiac care
  • Data sharing
  • Performance measurement
  • APMs and MACRA

Who should attend

Organized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the CMS Alliance to Modernize Healthcare (CAMH), the 2016 Spring LAN Summit will support stakeholders across the full health care payment continuum, including:

  • Medical and health service providers
  • Health care administrators
  • Employers and health care purchasers
  • Insurers and payers
  • Professional associations
  • Local, state, and federal government
  • Patient and consumer advocates
  • CMS Quality Networks

Whether your organization is just getting started with APMs or is well on its way implementing new models, the LAN Summit provides more than 40 breakout sessions and other opportunities to engage, learn, and act.

The LAN was launched in March 2015 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to accelerate the health care system’s transition to alternative payment models by combining the power and reach of the private and public sectors. Through the LAN’s collaborative structure, more than 5,000 participants are helping speed the adoption of APMs, a critical step in achieving the “Triple Aim” of better care, smarter spending, and healthier people.
