Melissa Sherry, Ph.D., M.P.H., serves as staff vice president for social impact and equity in the Health Outcomes Organization at Elevance. Dr. Sherry leads the Enterprise Health Equity and Social Strategy Program Office, which is responsible for addressing health equity across Elevance and addressing member health-related social needs across lines of business.
Dr. Sherry has spent her career designing and implementing innovative approaches to reducing health disparities and addressing social needs. She comes to Elevance Health with proven expertise in assisting health plans and health systems domestically and internationally in strategy, design, implementation, and assessment of the effectiveness of programs to reduce costs and improve the health of high-cost, high-need populations. She is a global speaker and consultant on strategies for addressing social drivers of health and interventions to improve population health through a focus on communities.
Dr. Sherry previously led social care integration at Unite Us, a leading social-determinants-of-health-focused software company that brings sectors together to improve the health and well-being of communities. Before that, she led population health initiatives for Johns Hopkins Healthcare. Dr. Sherry is also an assistant professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Sherry has a Ph.D. in health services research and a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
