Michael J. Lipp, M.D., M.B.A., is the Chief Medical Officer at the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) and leads the clinical activities across CMMI models and groups. Prior to joining CMMI, Dr. Lipp held various roles in the private sector, which included leading providers from fee-for-service to value-based care and developing clinical programs that drive quality and reduce costs. He was previously Vice President of Clinical Transformation at Healthcare Partners, where his activities included leading a primary care network and a house calls program for high risk patients. Dr. Lipp also served as the National MSO Medical Director for ChenMed, and he was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University in New York.
Dr. Lipp is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He attended the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Lipp completed his Internal Medicine residency at Harvard’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and his Gastroenterology fellowship at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. He holds an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management.
