Kate Detwiler is the proud mother of Nolan, a vibrant, thriving, 3-year-old tech-dependent little boy with a rare disease who receives Medicaid as an adoption benefit. Since 2016, Ms. Detwiler has served as the Program Lead of the Complex Care Program, a primary care medical home for children with medical complexity and their families at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. From 2013 to 2016, she served as the Program Lead for the Palliative Medicine Program and Hospitalist Consult Service, an inpatient consultative care model caring for medically complex children at Children’s National.
Ms. Detwiler is a member of multiple research interest groups focused on pediatric palliative care, pediatric chronic critical illness, and pediatric home care serving medically complex children. She also serves on an advisory committee to a state-based waiver program serving medically complex children in Maryland.
