Joey Nichols, M.D., M.P.H., is a family physician with a dual career in primary care practice and health technology innovation. He trained at Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Texas School of Public Health, and the Franklin Square Family Medicine residency program in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Nichols maintains a clinical practice as a Primary Care Virtualist, treating adults and children across 25 states through telemedicine. He is also a consultant for the Baltimore County Health Department for expansion of Medication Assisted Therapy for Opioid Use Disorder. At MITRE, he advises on projects related to care redesign through Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, with a particular concern for considering the clinical workflow when designing and implementing promising technologies. Dr. Nichols was the 2017-18 Primary Care Innovation Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
