Tom is a respected global business leader with over 17 years of healthcare strategy, marketing, commercialization, business development and management consulting experience including 2 years of in-country international experience. He’s spent the last 7 years focused on the value-based healthcare space for payers and providers. Tom joined Medtronic in 2015 and leads the Health Plan Solutions (HPS) team for Medtronic Diabetes. His team leads account management activities with all Medtronic Diabetes Health Plan customers fostering and developing executive-level relationships to understand their strategic priorities and develop and implement strategic partnerships that align with those priorities. Many of those partnerships include value-based structures. Prior to joining the Diabetes business, Tom led the Value-Based Strategy and Partnerships team within Medtronic Care Management Services (MCMS). His team developed MCMS’s business strategy to position MCMS as a leading value-based care management services provider with the skills and capabilities necessary to take and manage full risk on defined patient populations. Tom’s team also worked closely with payers and pay-viders to establish at-risk, value-based healthcare partnerships to deliver new business models and care models, including an at-risk total cost of care partnership with a large Medicare Advantage payer and a hospital at home care model with a large, regional pay-vider.

Previously, Tom spent 5 years at Sorin Group, an Italian medical device company. As Senior Director of Strategic Growth Initiatives, Tom led multiple business development deals including an innovative six-party JV deal involving hospital systems, payers, and medical device companies. Tom and his family lived in Paris, France for 2 years where he served as Global Business Leader for Sorin’s Defibrillator and Heart Failure franchise.

Prior to joining Sorin Group, Tom worked 7 years for Boston Scientific holding several positions with increasing responsibility in marketing and business strategy including managing its $350M US pacemaker franchise. Before joining the medical device industry, Tom spent 3 years with Deloitte Consulting in its Healthcare Strategy and Operations practice.   Tom graduated from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business in 2001 with an MBA in Marketing and Corporate Strategy. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University.
