Marilyn Serafini (Heart Valve Voice US) Marilyn Werber Serafini is executive director of the patient group Heart Valve Voice US. Heart Valve Voice US aims to improve the diagnosis, treatment and management of heart valve disease by raising awareness of its severity and the need for timely detection to ensure all patients receive appropriate support and the right treatment at the right time. Ms. Serafini is also a consultant to the Bipartisan Policy Center and an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University. Until 2017 she was president and co-CEO of The Alliance for Health Policy, a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping policy makers understand the foundations of health policy, the roots of the nation’s health care issues, and the trade-offs posed by proposals for change. Earlier in her career she was an award-winning journalist, covering public policy in Washington for various news outlets. She was the Robin Toner Distinguished Fellow and senior correspondent at Kaiser Health News, the health care and welfare correspondent for National Journal magazine, and a senior reporter for CongressDaily (now National Journal Daily).
