*Henry Pitt (Temple University Health System) Henry A. Pitt, M.D., completed his surgical training at Johns Hopkins in 1979. He spent the next six years at the University of California Los Angeles and returned to Johns Hopkins in 1985 as vice chairman of Surgery. During this time, Pitt was president of the Society of Clinical Surgery and served on the Management Committee for the Hopkins Clinical Practice Association, as well as the Payment System Advisory Committee for the state of Maryland.
In 1997, Pitt joined the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) as chairman of Surgery. While in Milwaukee, he was president of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary-Association (AHPBA) and served on the Executive Committee and Finance Committee of the MCW Clinical Practice Group. In 2004, Pitt moved to Indiana University, where he initiated the HPB Surgery Fellowship, became the University Hospital chief quality officer, served on the Finance and Medical Management Committees of the Indiana University Medical Group, and was president of the International Hepato-Pancreato Biliary Association.
In 2013, Pitt became the chief quality officer for the Temple University Health System and associate vice dean for Clinical Affairs of Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine. He has received the HPB Medallion from the International Hepato-Pancreato Biliary Association and the Distinguished Service Award from the American Hepato-Pancreato Biliary Association. Pitt is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and an honorary professor at three medical schools in China. He has published more than 450 peer-reviewed articles as well as 125 book chapters, and has edited 18 books.
