309 Panel: Value Payment for Device Expenditures

Medical devices are among the most significant drivers of health care costs. As the field continues to move from fee-for-service to value-based payment for clinical care, device manufacturers are also working more closely with stakeholders – including commercial and public sector payers, hospitals and health systems, employers, and patients – to explore strategies for linking payment to outcomes for care that involves device technology. This session will feature representatives from device manufacturers describing their innovative efforts to take on increasing levels of risk for quality and outcomes, and the effects of this shift on patients, on costs, and on the industry. It will also feature panelists representing the large health system and convener perspectives, speaking to how they are partnering with manufacturers to reduce costs, address regulatory issues, manage patient population health, and improve outcomes.
