302 Panel: Integrating Prescription Drug Expenditures in New Payment Models: Challenges and Successful Strategies

This panel will explore how spending on pharmaceuticals is being integrated into alternative payment models, including those that are risk-bearing. Speakers will focus on total cost of care contracting that includes drug spending; and the challenges and approaches to addressing drug pricing and emerging therapies in the context of APMs. Speakers will also address the role of benefit design and use of other tools to tackle utilization and costs, as well as the challenges in having visibility into retail pharmacy use and cost when most members are receiving pharmaceutical coverage via a carve-out, and how that factors into total cost of care.
