105 Panel: Addressing the Opioid Crisis: Pain Management, Addiction Treatment, and Recovery in the Context of APMs

As the opioid crisis continues to grow, this session will explore how payers are using alternative payment to innovate in the areas of pain management, as well as addiction treatment and recovery. Payers and providers who are engaged in opioid treatment programs will describe how they are changing payment for care related to treatment, recovery, and ongoing maintenance of sobriety using population-based reimbursement models. The panel will also feature payers and providers who are engaged in improving pain management for patients, and addressing the challenges that are most correlated with opioid addiction. Panelists will also speak to where they see addiction care evolving within a value-based payment system, what the aspirational model of care delivery looks like, and what is needed in terms of payment and reimbursement to support that vision.
