Suzanne Schrandt (Arthritis Foundation)

Director, Patient Engagement

Suz Schrandt, JD, is Director of Patient Engagement at the Arthritis Foundation. Schrandt previously served as Deputy Director of Patient Engagement for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), where she helped to establish PCORI’s patient engagement infrastructure.  Schrandt’s patient engagement focus stems from her own rheumatological diagnosis at age 14.  Since then, she has been involved with multiple patient and clinician education and advocacy initiatives aimed at fostering patient-centered, team-based management of chronic disease.  Her professional background spans health and disability law and policy, genetic discrimination research, bioethics, and public health.  Schrandt is current chair of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) Patient Representative Roundtable and one of nine voting members of the FDA’s inaugural Patient Engagement Advisory Committee.  She represents the Arthritis Foundation on the FasterCures Patients Count Patient Leadership Council, and is a member of the Kansas Bar Association, Professional Responsibility in Medicine and Research, and the American Health Lawyers Association.
