Executive Director, Health Care Transformation Task Force

Jeff Micklos is the executive director of the Health Care Transformation Task Force, a consortium of patients, payers, providers and purchasers working to transform the U.S. health care system. In this role, Micklos helps to lead the consortium of health leaders committed to having 75 percent of their respective businesses operating under value-based payment arrangements by 2020.

Micklos previously served as executive vice president, management, compliance & general counsel of the Federation of American Hospitals (FAH), a national trade association representing investor-owned and managed community based hospitals and health systems. In this role, he served as lead policy advisor on legal and regulatory issues while overseeing operational and compliance functions for his organization, as well as his senior management responsibilities.

Prior to joining the Federation, Micklos was a partner in the national Health Law Department of Foley & Lardner LLP, where he advised clients on all aspects of government regulation and enforcement related to their participation in federal and state health care programs and provided representation in reimbursement, certification, and fraud and abuse proceedings before the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General, Department of Justice and in federal court.

Prior to his private law practice, Micklos was an attorney in the Office of General Counsel, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he defended the Department in Medicare litigation before numerous federal district and appellate courts, provided advice on health care policy and fraud and abuse matters, and negotiated settlements with large insurance companies regarding Medicare Secondary Payer issues.

Micklos is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia, Maryland, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
