Amy Bassano, MPP, serves as a member of the Health Care Payment Learning & Action Network’s Clinical Episode Payment Work Group. She is Director of the Patient Care Models Group in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI). In this role, she leads the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) Initiative, the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement model, and the development of physician specialty models such as the Oncology Care Model. Prior to assuming her position in CMMI, Ms. Bassano was a senior advisor to the Director of the Center for Medicare at CMS where she led several Medicare payment reform efforts. She previously was Director of the Hospital and Ambulatory Policy Group overseeing Medicare payment policy for a variety of areas, including inpatient and outpatient hospitals, physicians, ambulatory surgical centers, and Part B drugs. Ms. Bassano also served as Director of the Division of Practitioner Services and Director of the Division of Ambulatory Services in the Hospital and Ambulatory Policy Group. Prior to working at CMS, Amy was a program examiner at the Office of Management and Budget where she was the lead Medicare analyst on Medicare Part B and D issues. Ms. Bassano earned a master’s degree in policy studies from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in history from Tufts University.
