The number of contracts health plans have with commercial Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) has doubled over the past two years. If employers are going to actively invest in, or steer employees to ACOs, they need to better understand how ACOs operate. During this session, panelists, including leadership from the National Business Group on Health, will present and discuss a set of reasonable competency expectations for ACO performance – for those ACOs that are just launching to those with a sustained record of success – via a journey map developed and endorsed by employers, health plans, and integrated delivery systems. Panelists will also share the transformation process of two high-performing ACOs.
